Leishrisk, Bridging Research and Leishmanianis Control

Leishrisk, Bridging Research and Leishmanianis Control

LeishRisk workshop - Objective

The LeishRisk workshop aims to sustain and strengthen the network of all EU-funded consortia working on leishmaniasis under FP5 and FP6, their international partners, and specialists on leishmania and health care worldwide.  It overlaps with the dissemination activity defined in the Leishmed project which aims to confront findings on surveillance and control of leishmaniasis around the Mediterranean basin with the situation encountered worldwide in other leishmaniasis endemic regions.

The workshop is designed to stimulate exchange of information, and seeks to build up a platform for discussing further coordinated research activities and projects

A multidisciplinary approach to leishmania is essential.  As such, a particular effort should be made to facilitate the bridging of leishmaniasis research and control.

The workshop will be held on 12, 13 and 14 November 2007 at the buildings of the Institute for Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, and is financially supported by the EU (Leishrisk and Leishmed), with co-funding of the Belgian cooperation (DGCD).

LeishRisk supports the initiative to develop a VL Diagnostics Quality Assurance Network.
